In the future a picture of this product and similar products should show a picture of the connecting end and state what Sirius radios they are compatable with. Great product. Ordered a similar product had to send it back because the connector did not fit.
My plug is not solid; rather, it is a circle of thin flanges, which quickly break. Amazon doesn't show the connection plug.Assuming Terk hasn't upgraded their design from the one I have, the quality is very poor.
It may take a few tries. Plug the new antenna into the plastic piece on your tuner. My little tab was white. You will know it is properly plugged in when you can replace the little tab back on. Once the tabs are out, you should be able to disconnect the antenna wires from the plastic pieces. I just received my Terk replacement antenna with the FAKRA style connector.
You should also see a little tab on your current broken antenna connection that needs to be pulled out with a small flat tool. You will have to push hard in order for it to plug all the way in. I have a Kenwood KTC-SR901 Sirius tuner. It may take a little tugging and twisting, but they should come out. The radio should work properly after this. If you look at the side of your new plastic connection, you will see a little purple tab that needs to be pulled out with a small flat tool.
Keep this tab so you can put it back on.
First I cleaned the area on my roof with a rag and water where it was going to be installed. If your are replacing an old antenna, make sure you get all of the old doubleface tape off. This antenna was a replacement item for my original antenna. At first I was a little worried that Clarion might have a proprietary connection on the receiver. It's a pretty painless swap out. Much smaller and less obtrusive than my original antenna. After checking the connector where the antenna connects to the receiver, I saw they were identical.
Now you can peel the doubleface tape and place the antenna in it's permanent position. After getting everything in place and making sure everything is working properly, get the alcohol swab supplied with the kit, and wipe off the area between the antenna base and where the wire enters your vehicle.
Upon initial inspection, I was surprised to see how small the unit is. You want to route the wire before you peel off the doubleface tape that holds the wire in place.
I have a "Sirius ready" Clarion head unit with a seperate reciever in the rear hatch. Next I put the antenna where it's going to sit on the vehicle.
Easier said than done. Since I was without the service for over a month, I was eager to install the antenna right away.
The black color seems to blend in better than the old grey one.
E-mailed said it was the wrong one, ask for a exchange, no responce. wrong antenna did'nt and would not fit the radio.
